Laser Sensors include built-in DSP.

Press Release Summary:

POLARIS laser sensors measure thicknesses, widths, lengths, profiles, and displacements from .39-15.7 in. with max resolution of 60,000 steps and accuracy of <0.1% FS. They can be interconnected and offer analog output of 4-20 mA. DSP compensates in real-time for changing reflectivity, while RS485 digital multi-drop interface allows for single- and multi-track or traversing measurement using single port. Software provides visualization and Statistical Process Control.

LAP Laser's Polaris Laser Thickness Sensors

Cincinnati, OH, March 11, 2003 (For Immediate Release)

The POLARIS laser sensor series is suited for measuring thicknesses, widths, lengths, profiles and displacements from 10 to 400 mm (.39 to 15.7 in.) of a variety of materials. POLARIS units measure up to 15.7 inches at high resolution (60,000 steps) with an accuracy of <0.1% F.S.

LAP Laser, LLC is internationally recognized for both its virtually maintenance-free in-line measuring systems and its lasers' standard programmable "Digital Signal Processing" (DSP) feature. One user of the POLARIS laser series recently commented, "I have never seen a laser sensor with similar built-in features. As the sensor can already perform many signal processing and evaluations, this saves me substantial programming time. And, the price is very competitive."

POLARIS laser sensors, which can be interconnected, offer an analog output of 4 to 20mA. Optional built-in limit switches with isolated outputs and accessories designed for harsh ambient conditions are available. The built-in DSP compensates in real-time for a material's changing reflectivity, while a digital multi-drop interface (RS485) allows for single- and multi-track or traversing measurement using a single port.

The standard LAP laser software provides tools for visualization and Statistical Process Control. Special modifications, for example, inclusion of material parameters or output formats, are available upon request. Optional accessories include measuring frames, traversing units and temperature sensors.

LAP Laser, LLC is a manufacturer of non-contact laser measuring sensors and gauges to determine distance, thickness, length, width, diameter and velocity for a variety of industries.
