Coherent Molectron Introduces Large-Area, Multi-Kilowatt PowerMax(TM) Laser Energy Probes
Santa Clara, Calif., February 27, 2003 - Coherent Molectron (Portland, OR) introduces several new additions to its PowerMax(TM) family of laser energy probes-the PM1K-100, the PM3K-100, the PM5K-100, and the PM5K-200. As the largest area, multi-kilowatt, water-cooled probes on the market, these new devices are ideal for measuring the energy output of diode laser bars, large cross-section laser beams, large diode laser arrays and high-divergence laser beams.
PowerMax probes measure the output of lasers ranging from 0.19 to 11 µm. The PM1K-100, PM3K-100 and PM5K-100 feature a 100-mm-diameter surface area; the PM5K-200 features a 200-mm-diameter surface area. PM1K-100 measures power levels as high as 1 kW with maximum intermittent power of 1.5 kW. PM3K-100 measures up to 3 kW with maximum intermittent power of 4 kW. PM5K-100 and PM5K-200 measure power levels as high as 5 kW, or intermittent power as high as 7.5 kW. Each device exhibits 1W power resolution. PowerMax devices also feature a maximum average power density of 26 kW/cm2 and a maximum pulse energy density of 0.6 J/cm2.
"Our new PowerMax probes provide a broad range of power measurement capabilities combined with the largest surface areas available today," said Burt Mooney, director of sales for Coherent Molectron, "This makes them a unique solution for measuring multi-kilowatt output of very large laser beams. And they're compatible with Coherent Molectron's PowerMax, 3sigma(TM) and EPM(TM) power and energy meters."
PowerMax probes feature Coherent Molectron's proprietary damage-resistant broadband coating. This provides significant performance improvements over large-area, black-painted probes. They're faster, more sensitive, and more resistant to scratches and laser damage across the spectrum, yet they maintain the desirable features of black paint-including broad, flat spectral response, low reflectance, and good spatial uniformity.
