Simple, Hand-held Graphic Interface Introduced as Standard Equipment
Keene, N.H. (June 13, 2005) - MARKEM Corporation, a world leader in innovative marking and coding solutions providing identification systems, software, supplies and services, has introduced a hand-held graphic user interface (GUI) for the SmartLase® 100i Series of laser coders as standard equipment. This new hand held device supports complex graphic characters with its WYSIWYG graphics display and is simple to program and operate even with the most complex text legend or code requirement.
The graphic user interface of the SmartLase 100i Series laser coder uses simple icons for operation and programming. This minimizes the need for operator training and maximizes uptime by eliminating costly programming errors. The interface supports graphic character sets and meets the coding needs of manufacturers who export products to countries requiring printed graphic characters. Currently, large, expensive floor mount and table top PC based controllers are used for local legend design and printing. These take up valuable floor space and limit productivity because of the PC's requirement for start up and shut down. However, the SmartLase 100i Series coder provides a small, hand-held interface solution with the flexibility of a PC without the need for the extra floor space or start up and shut down time. The handheld graphic interface is easily stored and retrieved for quick, simple access to text files for display and printing.
The SmartLase 100i Series laser codes are digital, compact CO2 lasers ideal for use on primary packaging such as cartons, labels, glass and PET bottles used in the pharmaceutical, cosmetic, personal care, food and beverage, tobacco, and household chemical industries.
