Accu-Sort® Systems Offers Compact Embedded Scanner

Telford, Pa., Nov. 18, 2003 - Accu-Sort Systems has introduced its Model 7 laser bar code scanner for use in confined spaces. The company's smallest (1.9 x 1.5 x 0.6 in./48 x 38 x 15 mm), most economical offering to date, the new scanner is designed for low-range, tight-spacing applications such as embedded scanning. Other applications include machine engineering, packaging machinery, automatic handling devices, robotic systems and semi-automatic work stations. The scanner is particularly well suited to applications in the pharmaceutical, entertainment products, electronic packaging and general manufacturing industries.

The Model 7 performs 600 scans per second, auto-discriminating a variety of codes including 2/5 Interleaved, Code 39, Code 128, EAN 128, EAN UPC, EAN Addendum, Codabar, Pharmacode and Code 93. Software capabilities include user configurable optional output format, autoConfig which facilitates set up and operation without code knowledge. AutoConfig enables reference code comparison, multiple reading, real-time decoding, adjustment mode and input/output switching control.

The scanner has a single cable for power, trigger and host interface, simplifying installation and interconnection. Its IP 67 protection rating assures that interior components remain dry and clean in wet and dusty environments.

The Model 7 is available with optics for either direct or 90-degree scan, providing flexibility in mounting. In addition, Accu-Sort offers installation assistance and on-site training. The Model 7 scanner will be available in January 2004.
