Agilent Technologies Offers LAN-to-USB Hub for Wired or Wireless Instrument Connectivity



PALO ALTO, Calif., Oct. 4, 2004 -- Agilent Technologies Inc. (NYSE: A) today announced the Agilent E5813A networked five-port USB hub, which provides remote USB ports for test system instruments and devices. The E5813A combines LAN (Local Area Network) and USB (Universal Serial Bus) technologies so that USB devices can be placed anywhere on a LAN. There are no switches to set or PC cards to install. The included software makes the five USB ports appear as locally attached ports.

Using a LAN, either in a wired or wireless configuration, an engineer can set up a computer to remotely access or monitor the instrument or device, collect data and perform measurements. The E5813A is compatible with Agilent's 82357A, a USB-to-GPIB interface, or Agilent's E5805A, a USB-to-RS232 interface, providing a wide range of connectivity options.
