OSRAM SYLVANIA Launches PENTRON ECO and PENTRON HO ECO, ECOLOGIC Choices for Use in Low Profile, High Performance Lighting Applications
NEW YORK, NY - February 11, 2003 - At LIGHTFAIR INTERNATIONAL 2003 (booth # 2219), OSRAM SYLVANIA will announce the launch of its PENTRON® ECO and PENTRON® HO ECO, low mercury lamps that also pass the EPA's Toxicity Characteristic Leaching Procedure, or TCLP test, for mercury. The new SYLVANIA PENTRON ECO lamps replace the company's PENTRON and PENTRON HO first introduced in 1996. OSRAM SYLVANIA is committed to a comprehensive environmental program called ECOLOGIC®, designed to reduce the environmental impact of processes and products. The PENTRON ECO is an ECOLOGIC lamp, engineered to meet the goal to develop products that are more energy efficient, offer long service life and have less impact on the environment.
"We have developed a new and highly accurate dosing technique for the PENTRON ECO," explains Bob Horner, OSRAM SYLVANIA fluorescent marketing manager. "This is the first environmentally-friendly T5 on the market and we are very excited about it."
The PENTRON ECO is engineered with size, efficacy, lumen maintenance and thermal advantages, offering design opportunities for highly efficient, small profile luminaires. PENTRON ECO's compact size, thermal advantages, and high light
output make these slender 5/8" diameter lamps an ideal choice for applications such as indirect lighting, task lighting, and industrial/warehouse lighting.
PENTRON ECO and PENTRON HO ECO are available in nominal 2, 3, 4 and 5' lengths and may all be operated on the same QUICKTRONIC PS® and QUICKTRONIC PHO® electronic ballasts as the PENTRON T5.
