Announcing the Release of BarTender Label and RFID Software Version 8.0

Seagull Scientific has released version 8.0 of their popular BarTender label software. Widely used for designing and printing industrial labels containing bar codes, text, graphics, and RFID tags, the highlight of the new release is the introduction of an Enterprise Print Server edition.

Built around the core functionality of the RFID Enterprise edition, "Print Server" adds centralized print management functions for submitting numerous network print jobs for processing by a single copy of BarTender running on a server. (For very high-load applications, users can optionally install additional copies of BarTender at no additional cost.) The new edition also includes what Seagull claims is industry-leading web technology for the selection and printing of label jobs from web browsers running on any operating system.

"As it has been nearly five years since we last came out with such a big release, I am delighted to be able to offer some of the most exciting new technology we've ever offered," said Jeremy Seigel, the company's founder and CEO. "In particular, the ability to print labels from within any web browser truly represents a breakthrough within our industry. And, as always, there's a nice mix of incremental improvements to our existing label printing technology as well."

The Enterprise Print Server edition also includes a variety of new, advanced integration capabilities. This includes TCP/IP socket connectivity for controlling BarTender from other programs without regard for operating platform, such as AS/400, Linux, UNIX, AIX, or Windows (etc.). And new XML capabilities, including automated XML format conversion using XSL style sheets, provide additional options for handling XML print requests from Oracle's WMS and MSCA applications.

Other new features include drop-down and scroll box list options in the BarTender forms designer and support for dozens of additional graphic formats.
