Paragon(R) Awarded Patent For Its Express(TM) Label Applicator Technology

White Bear Lake, MN - The United States Patents and Trademark Office (USPTO) has awarded a patent to Lowry Computer Products, Inc., (parent company of White Bear Lake, MN based Paragon Labeling Systems) for the inventive features incorporated into Paragon's Express Pre-Printed Label Applicator.

Specifically, US Patent No. 6,352,094 was awarded for the Express' "modular label dispensing apparatus" that allows for the fast and efficient application of pre-printed labels to moving or stationary products, cartons, cases or pallets. With the patented Express labeler, Paragon Labeling Systems, already a
recognized innovator in modular print-and-apply labeling equipment, has successfully taken its "lead, never follow" philosophy into the apply-only labeler market.

Craig Blonigen, Paragon Vice President, said that the patent award underscores the company's commitment to continuous innovation and modular design. "Paragon has proven beyond a doubt that modular design in labeling systems is the only way to go", he said. "Back when the 'norm' was custom one-off labeling machines, we brought modular design into the mainstream and set a new standard for performance, reliability, ease of implementation and versatility." In a recent independent labeling survey, Paragon was cited as the industry's fastest growing equipment brand.

Paragon's "modular" concept is based on an open chassis design to which a variety of label applicator modules are easily attached. The chassis also accepts various print engine modules for print-and-apply labeling.

In addition to its patented technology, the modular design of the Paragon Express(TM) Pre-Printed Labeling System can be easily upgraded to a full-featured Paragon print-and-apply system without buying a whole new machine. Any of the Paragon Applicator Modules - standard tamp, dual-panel tamp, roll-on, wipe-on, corner-wrap, and touchless vacuum-blow - can be used with an Express to apply pre-printed labels to most any product or packaging. The Express can be integrated into the line PLC or used in a stand-alone application at speeds up to 24 IPS (inches per second) with ±1/32" label placement accuracy.
