NEW YORK --L-3 Communications (NYSE: LLL) announced today that its AVISYS (L-3 AVISYS) subsidiary has been awarded a contract from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) to assess its second generation Civil Aircraft Protection System (CAPS2) for the protection of commercial aircraft from man-portable air defense systems (MANPADS).
