KPSI Transducers are available with lightning protection.

Press Release Summary:

Designed for small-bore applications, Series 300 level and pressure transducers are protected against fast rising voltage transients via 2 surge protection components: one in 0.75 in. OD 316 housing of transducer and one at surface. Waterproof products withstand harsh environments that contain hostile fluids and gases and are available with option of welded 316 SS or titanium construction. Each integrates pressure sensor assembly and optional chemical-resistant ETFE cable jacket.

Lifetime Lightning Protection Now Available on Pressure Systems' Small Bore Line of KPSI(TM) Transducers

Hampton, Va. - Pressure Systems, manufacturer of KPSI(TM) Level and Pressure Transducers, now offers lightning protection for its Series 300 small bore submersible level transducers for increased reliability. The Series 300 features protection against fast rising voltage transients with the use of two surge protection components, one located in the 0.75 inch OD 316 housing of the transducer and one located at the surface, grounded via DIN-rail or ground wire.

The Series 300 is specifically designed for small-bore applications to meet the rigorous environments encountered in a variety of water level measurements. With an option of welded 316 SS or titanium construction, this transducer family features a rugged, waterproof design and is ideal for ground water and surface water monitoring, down hole, dewatering, level control and shipboard-use applications. Featuring a highly accurate pressure sensor assembly and optional chemical-resistant ETFE cable jacket, the Series 300 can stand up to the harshest environments that contain hostile fluids and gases.

This transducer series offers custom level ranges up to 700 ft (210 m) H2O and an accuracy of up to ±0.05% FS. The Series 300 also features an analog output of 4-20 mA, 0-5 VDC or mV.

Each transducer includes the latest Pressure Systems' SuperDry Long Life Vent Filter that prevents moisture from entering the vent tube for at least one year without maintenance. An optional aneroid bellows instead of a vent filter can be supplied with the Series 300 for applications where periodic maintenance is not practical and extremely high accuracy is not required.

The cable, available in custom lengths, includes Kevlar members to prevent errors due to cable elongation and offers a unique water-block feature that self-seals the cable in the event of an accidental cut.

A ported nose cap where weights can be attached is also offered for installations that may include sharp, protruding objects.

The Series 300 is designed for installation in Class I, Division 1, Groups A, B, C and D; Class II, Division 1, Groups E, F and G; and Class III, Division 1 hazardous locations when connected to the appropriate apparatus. KPSI transducers are type-approved by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS); are UL, CUL and FM approved; have an IP68 and NEMA 6P housing protection rating; and are CE-compliant to EN 61000-6-4:2001 AND en 61000-6-2:2001.

The Series 300 with lightning protection starts at $970 (4-20 mA) in single-piece quantities. Delivery is 5 business days.

Pressure Systems also offers the lightning protection feature on 1-inch diameter models, such as the Series 700.
