KODAK MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution Expands Applications and Capabilities for Creating Accurate, Consistent Color Proofs

CHICAGO, Sept. 9 - A series of enhancements to the KODAK MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution extends its uses and benefits for delivering accurate, predictable color proofs. The most recent expansion to the MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution includes support for several of the latest EPSON printers, an updated version of KODAK Proofing Software, and a new line of media.

The MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution now supports the recently introduced EPSON Stylus Pro series of printers in 2-up, 4-up and 8-up formats, including EPSON UltraChrome K3 inks with Vivid Magenta technology. Availability of the MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution with the new EPSON Stylus Pro Printers is planned for the fourth quarter of this year.

The MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution offers a complete proofing solution with direct connectivity to KODAK Unified Workflow Solutions. In addition to allowing customers to choose from a number of leading drop on demand inkjet devices, the MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution includes KODAK Proofing Software, a full line of KODAK MATCHPRINT Inkjet Media, KODAK Certified Processes for enhanced color accuracy, and full support of industry color specifications such as SWOP, GRACoL, and FOGRA.

New KODAK Proofing Software Features and MATCHPRINT Inkjet Media
KODAK Proofing Software now supports all of Kodak's hard copy proofing systems: the KODAK APPROVAL Digital Color Imaging System, the KODAK VERIS Digital Proofer, and MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution. For customers with multiple proofing solutions from Kodak, it provides a common interface and user experience, and makes training and system maintenance easier. For the MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution, the latest KODAK Proofing Software enhancements include halftone emulation, one dimensional color curve adjustment, 1-bit TIFF file acceptance, and fine line emulation to better predict the press job.

"Many printers require more than one type of proofing technology to meet customer needs," said John Cross, General Manager-Proofing, WFIJ, Film & Chemistry, Prepress Solutions, Kodak. "KODAK Proofing Software provides printers with a common proofing platform that is easy to use, while featuring advanced color management, screening and calibration tools to create color accurate, reliable proofs."

Kodak has also launched new MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Media products designed specifically to support both emerging U.S. specifications from IDEAlliance and standard European specifications:
o KODAK MATCHPRINT Pro Coated SM240P Media, Type 1, meets GRACoL coated type 1 and FOGRA39 specifications
o KODAK MATCHPRINT Pro Coated SM240P Media, Type 3, meets SWOP coated type 3 specifications

These new papers serve customers who do not want to tint the paper background to meet color specifications with high quality proofing requirements. The media is compatible with all current MATCHPRINT Inkjet printers, including the new EPSON printers, and will be available in October 2007.

The MATCHPRINT Inkjet Proofing Solution incorporates KODAK COLORFLOW Technology for seamlessly communicating, controlling and confirming color across multiple devices. The Certified Processes within the COLORFLOW technology platform help deliver a proof that is generated according to in house or industry color guidelines. They also confirm that the correct profile is used and that the proofing system is correctly calibrated.
