EPA-Approved Kerosene Decals Available From NEFI

WATERTOWN, MASS. - New England Fuel Institute (NEFI) has produced EPA-approved, UV resistant kerosene decals that are available at a nominal fee to fuel marketers.

As of June 1, 2006, fuel marketers that sell kerosene are required to use sulfur content disclosure labels on their pumps similar to those already in use on diesel fuel pumps. If a fuel marketer fails to label their kerosene pumps, or uses incorrect or non-compliant labels, they could face federal fines of up to $32,500 per day per violation.

The decals are 3.75" x 3.25" square, self-adhesive and overlaminated for durability. There are five different labels available for the various levels of sulfur content and whether the fuel is taxed or non-taxed. Each label costs $2.50 and there is a minimum order of $10 plus a small fee for shipping and handling. Marketers receive a guidance document that explains the details of the EPA regulation and proper placement of the decals with each order.

You can download the order form in Pdf format at www.nefi.com. Or, you can phone NEFI at 617-924-1000 and an order form can be faxed to you. Questions regarding the labeling requirements should be directed to the NEFI Legislative & Regulatory Action Center at 617-924-1000.
