KEMET Expands Large-Case SMD Multilayer Ceramic Capacitors

Portfolio Now Includes Extended Capacitance Values

GREENVILLE, S.C., Feb. 14 /- Today, KEMET Corporation (NYSE:KEM) announces it is expanding its ceramic capacitor portfolio: Customers can now obtain capacitance extensions in an EIA 1812 case size, with capacitance that includes 4.7uF in a 25-volt rated part type and 10uF in a 50-volt rated part type.

These capacitors are in heavy use among many industries, including automotive, power supply and other electronic applications where higher operating temperatures are mandatory.

"We continue to develop our large case size components in order to satisfy market and customer demands," says Corey Antoniades, Associate Product Manager for the Ceramic Business Unit. "Expanding our selection was a natural progression toward combining state-of-the-art technology with the very best in customer service."

These EIA 1812 capacitors offer a robust design in a surface-mount package that is ideal for applications including Input/Output filters in DC-DC converters, power supply bypass, LCD modules, and smoothing.

One hundred percent pure matte, tin-plated terminations allow for superior solderability; tin/lead termination is also available for those customers needing the capacitors for high-reliability and military applications.

The capacitors are being offered in an X7R dielectric with an operating temperature range between -55 degrees C and +125 degrees C, with zero bias capacitance shift limited to ±15% over that range. Capacitance tolerances offered include both K(±10%) and M(±20%). They meet all requirements of the Automotive Electronic Council's AEC-Q200-Rev C and are available in a cost-conscious range of $.52 - $.82 per capacitor.

KEMET Corporation provides industry-leading, high-performance capacitance solutions, including the world's most complete line of surface-mount capacitor technologies across tantalum, ceramic and solid aluminum dielectrics-along with the world's best quality, delivery and service. KEMET's common stock is listed on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol KEM. KEMET is an ISO 9001:2000 and ISO/TS 16949:2002 registered company.
