Latest Release of Oracle Berkeley DB Delivers Improved Performance, Ease of Use and Portability
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., 30-OCT-2007 05:30 AM Oracle today announced that Juniper Networks, a leader in high-performance networking, will use Oracle® Berkeley DB in its JUNOS software. JUNOS software is the single source network operating system that powers the Juniper Networks family of routers designed to address the advanced networking requirements of high-performance businesses.

Oracle Berkeley DB also offers high availability and near zero administration for unattended, continuous operation. Oracle Berkeley DB Release 4.6 includes the following enhancements:
o Increased Performance -- a more efficient mutex implementation enables multiple threads to access a common memory location, and a faster hash access method helps applications more quickly find an item via a binary search.
o Increased Ease of Use for Developers -- a new quick start tool generates schema and configuration code to help developers produce working applications on their first try. Several new features give developers greater flexibility and control for their applications, such as cache size adjustment during runtime, cache operation prioritization and replica-private temporary databases.
o Increased Portability -- in addition to support for Linux, Unix and Windows, several new platforms are supported for Windows CE, S60 and BREW, plus simple platform verification tools to ease porting.
