Technology Streamlines Data Collection and Management for Job Site Operations

Who Benefits: building and highway construction companies, quarry/ aggregate companies, waste handling firms, companies with service crews, equipment rental firms, companies who operate any high-value equipment at remote locations.

Shelton, CT March 10, 2006. OEM Controls, a leader in the development of hardened controllers for industrial and "extreme" environments" for more than 35 years, has introduced a technology that easily captures detailed information from a job site, transmits it to secure storage, and integrates it with back office systems for use in scheduling and billing.

This versatile product suite begins with the "Tracking" Module that collects job site information such as equipment hours and usage, fuel gallons dispensed, and the dispensing of other consumables.

The "Capture" module is a robust PDA which accepts bar code or infrared data input. The user-friendly PDA software programs are designed with the mobile outdoor worker in mind. Each piece of data being entered is virtually error-proof through the easy answer and flow screens. Examples of data capture include: location, asset disposition, repair work codes, crew and cost codes, and inspections, The "Delivery" Module automatically downloads, encrypts and securely transmits the data from the Tracking and Capture modules to a secure data vault each night.

The "Managing" Module is customized to the company, and includes tailored software for the optimization of operations and equipment assets. Some reports include the tracking of fuel consumption, inspection results, inspection open non-conformances, operator activity, and cost-effective scheduling of repair and service activities. It also simplifies various compliance and road tax issues.

The OEM system streamlines the collection, delivery, integration and use of jobsite data in a way that's reliable and transparent. Job tracking is simplified, labor and resource planning can be more accurate, and financial forecasting requires less time. There's also less guesswork: the system lets managers review, for example, the working vs. idle ratios on various equipment, or the productivity of the operations.

Most importantly, by enabling the analysis of every facet of each job, processes, equipment and materials can be used to best advantage, and "people assets" -crew and subcontractors - can be assigned for greatest efficiency and productivity.

Notably, the system is independent of the customer's network, and does its job without involving the IT department, and without giving field personnel another task. If there's a technical issue, a remote access link allows quick resolution by a technical service specialist.

The product suite is easy to install and can be programmed easily. It is also easy to learn and use: training is done on-site or via remote on-line classroom. All products are protected by a comprehensive warranty; service plans providing automatic software upgrades and annual preventative maintenance are available.
