ISP Systems enable optical networks in riser environments.

Press Release Summary:

Providing method for deploying optical fiber in plant and factory floor environments, Plug and Play(TM) ISP Systems feature fire-retardant optical fiber cables with tether attachment points (TAPs) pre-installed at customer-specified intervals. Each TAP provides access to optical fibers via single or dual 12-fiber tether that is terminated with OptiTip(TM) MT Connector. Available in single-mode and multimode versions, systems are compatible with 2.0 in. duct.

Corning Cable Systems Plug & Play(TM) ISP Systems ......

Allow Simple, Cost-Effective Deployment of Optical Networks in Riser Environments

Preterminated inside plant system available with new factory-terminated Zeux(TM) Panel

HICKORY, N.C. - Corning Cable Systems LLC, part of Corning Incorporated's (NYSE:GLW) Telecommunications segment, introduces its Plug & Play(TM) ISP System, which provides a cost-effective method for deploying optical fiber in inside plant (riser) and factory floor environments, at speeds significantly faster than traditional field installations.

Plug & Play ISP Systems feature standard fire-retardant optical fiber cables with tether attachment points (TAPs) pre-installed at customer-specified intervals along the length of the cable. Each TAP provides access to the optical fibers via a single or dual 12-fiber tether that is terminated with Corning Cable Sytems' OptiTip(TM) MT Connector. This new deployment configuration allows up to 24 fibers per TAP to be dropped off at each floor in a riser application, or each workstation in a factor floor application, with a single cable pull.

The cable and TAPs are tested after manufacture and shipped to the customer as a complete system. This new factory-terminated system can significantly reduce installation time by up to 50 percent per termination point by eliminating the need for multiple point-to-point cable runs. The system provides end-users with significant cost savings due to few cable pulls and less connectorization in the field.

Corning Cable Systems Plug & Play ISP Systems are available in both single-mode and multimode versions and consist of factor-terminated and -tested distribution trunk cables, tethers and harnesses that are compatible with 2.0-inch duct. The harness assembly connects to the TAP via the OptiTip MT Connector and is terminated on the other end with the connector of the customer's choice, offering quick and easy connection between the distribution cabling and the interconnect hardware.

Plug & Play ISP Systems are also available with harnesses terminated with Corning Cable Systems' new Zeux(TM) Panel, a factory-terminated patch panel that eliminates the need for on-site terminations when combined with factory-terminated patch cords. The Zeux(TM) Panel mounts onto a variety of hardware devices including swing-out mounting brackets and wall-mount boxes. Its rugged, modular construction enables faster and easier moves, adds and changes when compared to traditional non-modular systems. The harness assembly can be configured with either a blunt cable end (for splicing) or an OptiTip(TM) MT Connector for Plug & Play(TM) ISP System use.

In addition to the Plug & Play ISP System, Corning Cable Systems continues to offer its Plug & Play OSP and Universal Systems. The preterminated optical fiber cabling systems dramatically streamline the process of deploying an optical network infrastructure in the premises environment. Plug & Play OSP Systems, designed to simplify installations in OSP networks, are now offered in both multimode and single-mode versions, another expansion in Corning Cable Systems' Plug & Play System family.
