Inverter features closed-loop current control feedback.

Press Release Summary:

Designed for LCDs backlit by 2 CCFLs, DMW Series inverter provides closed loop current control over voltage range of 8-18 Vdc. It monitors lamp current to maintain consistent brightness, regardless of variations in input voltage. Rated 16 W, product features 0-100% on-board PWM dimming, soft-start lamp ignition, open lamp detection and shut down, and direct connection to display. It is suited for applications that run from unregulated input voltage sources or power supplies.

New ERG Inverter Features Closed Loop Current Control Feedback and Wide Input Range

Endicott, NY, March 2004 - The new DMW Series inverter from Endicott Research Group Inc. provides closed loop current control over a wide input voltage range (8-18 VDC), monitoring the lamp current to maintain consistent brightness, regardless of any variations in input voltage.

Designed for LCDs backlit by two cold cathode fluorescent lamps (CCFLs), the DMW Series inverter provides a high-efficiency solution with a combined power of up to 16 watts. It is ideal for applications run from an unregulated input voltage source or power supply, such as battery-powered equipment.

This ensures that the performance of LCDs in reliability-critical applications such as medical equipment and voting machines, where the equipment may be running off of a battery that has to be periodically charged or experience a sudden power outage, is unaffected.

The DMW Series inverter is ideal for LCDs that require a high starting voltage (up to 2400 V) and are backlit by larger, longer CCFL tubes. For a 15" diagonal LCD backlit by two L-shaped CCFL tubes that cover the entire parameter of the module, e.g., these inverters easily mount behind the display, avoiding any packaging issues.

Features include on-board PWM dimming (0-100%), soft start lamp ignition (no noise when the inverter is in the PWM phase), open lamp detection and shut down, and direct connection to the display (no soldering necessary).

"DMW Series inverters are designed to meet all of the LCD manufacturers' specifications and have the on-board features display design engineers are looking for," said Bill Abbott, ERG's Global Market Strategist. "In critical applications, these inverters will always light the display with a consistent brightness - even with fluctuations in the input voltage."

Pricing for DMW Series inverters is $19.85 each in production quantities. Delivery is 4 weeks A.R.O.
