Linksys Announces its Latest Home and Office Monitoring Solution the New Compact Wireless-G Internet Video Camera

LAS VEGAS, January 4/--- Monitor the Home or Office From Anywhere in the World

At the 2006 International Consumer Electronics Show, Linksys(R), a Division of Cisco Systems, Inc., the recognised leading provider of voice, wireless and networking hardware for the consumer, (SOHO) Small Office/Home Office and small business user, will today demonstrate the Compact Wireless-G Internet Video Camera (WVC54GC-UK), its latest monitoring device, providing users an affordable means to monitor the home and office via a web browser, from anywhere in the world. This compact, self-contained unit sends a high-quality live video stream through the Internet. Unlike standard "web cams" requiring an attached PC, the Internet Video Camera contains its own IP address, so users can easily connect to an existing Ethernet or Wireless network.

The camera's unique compact form-factor and wireless connectivity means it can be easily mounted on a wall or slipped into its included stand for desktop use. Once connected to a home network and the Internet, the user is able to see the clear camera view from any Windows-based PC, in the house or office. The audio video stream can be secured from the outside world when the user is inside the home but can easily be made accessible using the Internet for remote access viewing.

Advanced features of the WVC54GC-UK include automated monitoring from Intamac(i) via a remote server-based platform. When the camera detects motion, the Intamac platform begins to record the video feed, storing up to 2 minutes of images. At the same time, automated alerts can be sent via text message, a telephone call or by e-mail informing a customer that motion was detected by the camera at their home or place of business. The Intamac Home Manager(TM) secure online account provides simple and highly secure access to retrieve the recorded images, and to view the live video streams from all cameras in the home. If the customer is unable to access a computer at that time, they can also request images be sent to their mobile phone via MMS or as a video clip for viewing.

Robert Auci, director of sales in Europe, the Middle East and Africa says, "Linksys is continuing to expand its line of monitoring devices, ideal for the home and small business. We remain focused on providing reliable, affordable easy-to-use wireless products, with advanced features."

SoloLink(TM) Dynamic Domain Name System (DDNS) Service
Linksys is offering an optional service to facilitate the use and access of its wireless home products. Many Internet providers assign a new IP address to a connection from time to time or anytime an Internet connection is restarted. The new SoloLink(TM) service is a DDNS service that keeps track of the IP address of the camera, even when it changes, with an easy to remember web address the customer selects so the camera's video stream can be found quickly and easily.

The Intamac Home Manager(TM) is a subscription based service offered by Intamac. Each WVC54GC-UK camera comes complete with a 30 day free trial of the Intamac Home Manager(TM).
