International Industrial Consultancy Finds Success by Managing Data with SMARTEAM
ABMI chose the Dassault Systèmes' solution for better communication with its clients
Paris, France, April 4, 2006 - IBM & Dassault Systèmes (DS) (Nasdaq: DASTY; Euronext Paris: #13065, DSY.PA), today announced that ABMI, an international industrial consultancy, has seen dramatic results by installing the SMARTEAM solution for data management.

ABMI consults on the design of industrial products, offering global solutions for improvements in manufacturing processes or entire business projects that are specifically adapted to the customer's industry. It was an early adopter of large CAD systems and one of the first sub-contracting design offices to install data management software (PDM) for the management of its clients' projects.
The company identified the need to preserve the existing know-how from its projects, and also wanted to implement an enterprise methodology. It required a multi-CAD PDM software which could interface not only with its existing CATIA solution from Dassault Systèmes, but with all other software applications on the market, which it needs to work with in its role as a sub-contractor for its clients' operations.
Manager of the Design Office, Jean-Claude Savary, adds that it is equally important to have an open system. "SMARTEAM is a collaborative work solution allowing interactive communication in real time, which lets our project leaders limit the number of meetings required and therefore optimize work time. Our clients are extremely demanding, and we must have a reliable and competent partner for our software solutions. With SMARTEAM, ABMI implemented a knowledge data-base that capitalizes on its know-how, and is accessible to its subsidiaries in France, Sweden, Germany and Canada. Clients can also access the data, enabling them to visualize their projects and observe progress in real time, while securing the data and maintaining confidentiality: a critical factor for many of ABMI's prestigious clients, which include Renault, Snecma, EADS, Alcatel and Thales.
