Interface Converters work with RS232, RS422 and RS485.

Press Release Summary:

Models IC485+ and IC485+I allow standard RS232 port to communicate with individual RS422 device or with multiple devices within RS485 network. Both devices support RS422 full duplex mode as well as RS485 full or half duplex master and slave modes. Onboard LEDs indicate that device is properly powered and when device is transmitting and receiving. Six-position screw terminal block on board provides connection to external devices.

Sealevel Systems, Inc. Announces RS-232 and RS-422/485 Interface Converter with Software

Liberty, SC (Jan. 21, 2002) Sealevel Systems, Inc. announces the IC485+ and IC485+I, as new additions to its popular interface converter product line. The IC485+ and IC485+I interface converters allow a standard RS-232 port to communicate with an individual RS-422 device or with multiple devices within an RS-485 network. Both devices support RS-422 full duplex mode as well as RS-485 full or half duplex master and slave modes. This gives the user flexibility in configuring the device to meet their specific application needs. Onboard LEDs are included to indicate that the device is properly powered and also illuminate when the device is transmitting and receiving to assist in verifying acceptable communications. A six-position screw terminal block on the board provides connection to external devices. Provisions for strain relief are made within the case by a cable clamp/screw combination. This eliminates unwanted wire disconnects once the screw terminals are wired.

In RS-422 and RS-485 Auto modes, the card works seamlessly with the standard operating system serial driver. This mode utilizes the onboard MicroChip PIC micro controller to sense the baud rate and control the transmitter enable signal. Two additional methods are provided to control the communication line in RS-485 mode. The "Data Enable" mode uses the transmitted data to enable the transmitter and requires no software drivers. The "RTS Enable" mode uses the UART modem control signal RTS and requires Sealevel Systems' serial driver.

In addition the IC485+I, provides optical isolation and surge protection, to prevent damage from ground loop phenomenon on the RS422/485 lines.

The IC485+ (Part# 1102) retails at $109.00. The IC485+I (Part# 1103) is $129.00. Both are available immediately from stock. OEM and volume pricing is available.
