Landis+Gyr Announces Availability of New Gas Module

Enables distributed intelligence for commercial gas line monitoring

ATLANTA -- Building on its reputation of transforming the way energy is delivered and industry-leading portfolio of intelligent sensors for electric, water and gas utility applications, Landis+Gyr today announced the commercial availability of the M250, a new intelligent gas module that records and transmits pressure and temperature reading data from commercial/industrial gas line monitors.

Utilities use pressure and temperature information to monitor gas pressure throughout the network, as a way to ensure accurate billing for high-volume users and pressure integrity for critical industrial applications. The new gas module provides a secure, open standards IPv6 two-way communication to the utility using Landis+Gyr's RF mesh network. Available data includes pressure, temperature, corrected and uncorrected volumes.

"This state-of-the-art product, the third member of our popular gas module portfolio, provides a number of benefits for forward-thinking utilities already using Landis+Gyr's network for electric and gas meters," said Steven Schamber, Vice President of AMI Solutions at Landis+Gyr. "Utilities will be able to replace cellular or land line modems in tracking devices with a future-proof module that works on their existing network and offers more flexibility for collecting critical data."

The M250 supports:

--  four dynamic channels of register data, configurable for 15, 30 or 60 minute recording;

--  a single Modbus connection to directly read pressure, temperature, corrected and uncorrected gas values or corrector battery voltage - greatly improving read reliability;

--  user-selectable time increments for data retrieval, up to once per hour;

--  auto-registration on the network and over-the-air firmware upgrades;

--  multiple event settings to report issues such as tampering or low battery status; and

--  a variety of correctors from Mercury/Honeywell and Eagle Research.

Landis+Gyr's intelligent gas modules are part of the Gridstream(®) AMI solution, which leverages a multi-purpose, standards-based IPv6 network to provide secure communication with meters, sensors and distribution devices. Other gas modules available include the M120 for residential gas meters and the M220 for commercial gas applications.
