Schneider Electric Introduces Altivar® IMC

Integrated Controller Card for Altivar 61 & 71 Variable-Speed Drives Offers Significant Increases in Drive Capabilities at a Reduced Cost

PALATINE, Ill. - Schneider Electric, a global specialist in energy management, today announced the launch of the Altivar® IMC, an integrated controller card for Altivar 61 & 71 variable-speed drives. Designed on an innovative, flexible machine control platform, the Altivar IMC increases the capabilities of variable-speed drives tenfold, expanding their intelligence, performance, simplicity and efficiency - at a cost up to 30 percent less than a traditional PLC-based solution.

Featuring embedded access to Ethernet and FTP/Web servers, the Altivar IMC offers an unprecedented level of openness and accessibility, allowing communication with all other system devices, and comprehensive control of up to 32 distributed application architectures. The state-of-the-art platform of the Altivar IMC also enables a high level of flexibility, expanding compatibility with a wider range of machines, including the logic controllers Modicon M238 and M258; the logic motion controller Modicon LMC058; and the HMI controller Magelis XBT-GC.

Based on Schneider Electric's SoMachine(TM) software, the intelligent 2MB memory of the Altivar IMC efficiently performs more complex operations than others in its class. The use of SoMachine also affords the Altivar IMC shorter machine development times, allowing users a simplified solution featuring one project file, one software program and one application download. Embedded in SoMachine software, the Altivar IMC's CANOpen Configurator achieves total transparent access, allowing the card to also use the drive local input/output, the drive extension input/output card, the drive communication option card, the encoder interface card speed feedback counter and drive parameters.

Further optimizing its simplicity and ease-of-use, the Altivar IMC features a highly open human-machine interface with a customizable graphic display and menu, completing its offering as a comprehensive, advanced solution for streamlining and maximizing industrial machine drives.
