Original Press Release:

New Bare Bones Tester Is Building Block For User's Own Custom IC Test System

Pleasanton, CA (December 11, 2002) - ProductionLine Testers (PLT) today announced the availability of an integrated circuit test (ICT) system designed for those users that want a system that provides the freedom to fully expand/migrate capabilities, as they need. The IC240 is a "bare bones" bench top test system that combines a powerful, yet simple to modify software interface with a highly configurable hardware core that allow test engineers to easily customize the system for their unique testing applications. This makes the system ideal for in-house test integrators, test consultants, small automated test equipment OEMS, and testing labs that have neither the budget nor time to waste on non-custom solutions.

The IC240 is not limited by unnecessary preprogrammed, unneeded software or built-in components such as what comes with bundled off-the-shelf test systems but is specifically designed to address the problems engineers have when designing custom IC test systems - that is integration. Since the majority of the hardware and software is completed and tested, the engineer can focus strictly on those items that are unique to the design. This cuts the engineers design time significantly since most of the hardware and software integration is completed and debugged. All that is remaining is specific items that are unique to the particular module or IC to be tested.

In addition, the IC240 has a prototyping board that comes with decoder, buffers and software drivers that allow fast bread-boarding of their custom instruments. The "bare bones" system is built around a C-sized card chassis with a wide variety of readily available application cards. This standard card cage and configurable software makes it possible for the user to replace high-priced stand-alone testers for a fraction of the cost.

The software provides flexibility to control all of the standard as well as custom designed components. This reduces the integration time and thus the cost of bringing a truly custom test system online and testing products.

Price and Availability

The IC240 "Bare Bones" ICT is priced from $15,000 and includes the rack and chassis, computer, Windows 2000, and user interface and test development software, source code and compiler. Systems are deliverable within 4 - 6 weeks ARO.

About ProductionLine Testers
ProductionLine Testers has been meeting the Semiconductor Industry's growing demand for low-cost and efficient test systems since 1995 with systems for IrDA and Integrated Circuit (IC) testing designed to meet ideal standards and custom designed, unique circumstances. The IrDA systems provide standard IC, direct LED electrical, and optical testing, while the extensive line of IC test system configurations provide quick and economical integrated circuit and continuity testing with pin counts up to 1000. The test software included on each system has a spreadsheet-like format interface that is easy to use and provides simple self-programming to meet their specific needs.

ProductionLine Testers is a proud member of SEMI and the Infrared Data Association (IrDA) and has provided systems worldwide for such customers as Agilent, IBM, Zilog, Citizen, Lite-On, Infineon, and Temic/Vishay.
