Integrated Circuit acts as 3-pin voltage supervisor.

Press Release Summary:

Available in surface-mount 3-pin SOT-23 package, SP730 microprocessor supervisor IC monitors critical system voltages in portable applications where long battery life is important. Product consumes 45 µA quiescent current while monitoring 2.8 and 3.0 V for CDMA as well as 3.3 and 5 V for consumer applications. Part generates active low pulse for 350 ms to hard reset any processors or ASICs that may fail due to questionable power quality.

Sipex Introduces First Three Pin Voltage Supervisor

(Milpitas, CA - March 30, 2004) - Sipex Corporation (NASDAQ:SIPX), a leading provider of high performance, analog integrated circuits (ICs), today introduced the SP730, a microprocessor supervisor IC. This latest release expands Sipex's broad array of supervisor and reset circuits with its miniaturized technology for densely packed applications. Offered in a surface mount 3-pin SOT-23 package, the SP730 is a perfect choice for monitoring critical system voltages in portable applications where long battery life is important.

To minimize battery drain, the SP730 consumes a mere 45µA quiescent current. This new microprocessor supervisor is factory programmed to monitor 2.8V and 3.0V for CDMA as well as 3.3V and 5V for consumer applications. The part operates by generating an active low pulse for 350ms to hard reset any processors or ASICs that may fail due to questionable power quality. The part is specified to operate over an extended temperature range of -65C to 125C degrees.

SP730 Key Features (Typical):

o Low Quiescent Current: 45µA

o Integrated Power-On and Under-Voltage Reset

o Active low, open-drain reset signal

o Built-in reset timer

o Fixed voltage supply monitoring for 2.8V, 3.0V, 3.3V and 5V systems

o 3-pin SOT-23 package

Pricing and Availability

The SP730 is available now in the 3-pin SOT-23 package. Samples are also available to help in the evaluation of the device. Pricing starts at $0.59 each in 1,000 quantities. The data sheet and additional information on the SP730 and other Sipex product offerings may be found on the company web site at www.sipex.com.
