New Insulated Tool Line is the World's First to be UL Tested & Listed

IDEAL Demonstrates Leadership in Electrical Safety With Introduction of Insulated Tool Line Certified to 1000V

SYCAMORE, IL, February 2, 2004 - Continuing to offer electricians and maintenance professionals more quality, comfort and safety in their hand tool choices, IDEAL INDUSTRIES, INC. today introduced an extensive new line of insulated screwdrivers, nutdrivers, pliers, and cutters - the world's first and only insulated tools to be UL Tested and Listed.

Offered individually or in convenient multi-piece sets, new IDEAL insulated tools meet ASTM F1505-01 and IEC 60 900 standards, as well as comply with OSHA 1910.335 regulations and NFPA 70E standards. Each tool is UL and VDE listed and certified to 1000V AC for exceptional safety.

Double Insulated Cutters & Pliers Have Built-In Safety Check
Building on the legendary performance of IDEAL hand tools, the new cutters and pliers feature double insulated Santoprene® handles, giving the electrician a more secure, comfortable grip without forfeiting durability.

The high-visibility orange outer-surface handle resists oil, perspiration, water and chemicals for precise functionality, while the permanently bonded, inner-surface handle is bright yellow so it acts as an "at-a-glance" safety monitoring system. If the outer orange coating reveals any of the inner yellow, the electrician knows it is time to replace the tool. Another sought-after safety feature of the cutters and pliers is their large finger stops that guard against accidental contact with exposed metal tool parts.

IDEAL is offering its double insulated cutters and pliers in a broad range of styles to meet the varied needs of the professional electrician, including in the company's popular Reflex(TM) wire stripper cutter design. Engineered for extra toughness and durability in harsh work environments, these tools feature high carbon steel jaws with induction hardened cutting edges and serrated gripping surfaces.

New Drivers Offer 40% More Torque
The IDEAL line of insulated Screwdrivers and Nutdrivers are equally impressive. Both have an ergonomic cushioned grip that delivers 40% more torque than conventional designs, resulting in reduced muscle fatigue and a lessoned possibility for repetitive motion injuries. The rounded handle naturally fits the electrician's hand, and the non-slip Santoprene® surface assures maximum gripping strength.

Key to the success of the new screwdrivers is a tempered blade that is finished with black oxide and hardened for longer life and maximum quality. The nutdrivers are precision formed and hardened for heavy-duty workloads. Both the nutdriver and screwdriver lines offer the confidence of molded on, permanently bonded insulation.

Screwdrivers and nutdrivers are available in all standard sizes and styles.

IDEAL Double Insulated tool kits can be purchased as: a 25-piece Journeyman set that includes all tools and a knife, Volt Sensor(TM), fuse puller and tool roll case; a Standard 17-piece set; a Basic 9-piece set; a Screwdriver-only 9-piece set; and a Nutdriver-only 7 piece set.
