Insulated Heaters offer customization flexibility.

Press Release Summary:

Constructed of silicone rubber, 3100 Series Silicone Wirewound Insulated Heaters incorporate multi-stranded resistance wires that enable geometry and heater wire pattern to be customized to end-user requirements. They may be vulcanized to metal substrates using silicone rubber, allowing for max temperature of 482ºF. With max power of 40 W/in², heaters can incorporate various thermal components for stand-alone thermal control and over-temperature protection.

Honeywell Introduces the 3100 Series Silicone Wirewound Insulated Heaters

Offers greater customization flexibility

FREEPORT, Ill., February 16, 2004 - Honeywell [NYSE:HON] Sensing and Control is introducing the 3100 Series of Silicone Wirewound Insulated Heaters. Multi-stranded resistance wires allow great flexibility in geometry, especially three dimensional shapes. Unlike off-the-shelf products with fixed parameters, the 3100 Series offers greater customer flexibility:

o Geometry and heater wire pattern is specific to Customer requirements. Almost any custom shape can be built, and resistance wires can be routed around mounting holes.
o Wire type and gage is per Customer request. Standard is UL 1180 Teflon®(TM) or otherwise selected for maximum current draw.
o It may be vulcanized to Customer metal substrates using silicone rubber (the same substance from which the heater is made), allowing for a maximum temperature of 250 ºC [482 ºF] (non-UL).
o It may be pre-fitted to Customer or Honeywell-supplied sub-assemblies or brackets.
o Value-added thermal components, such as thermal fuses, thermostats or thermistors, may be built into the heater at Customer's request. These components afford stand-alone thermal control as well as safety over-temperature protection.

Other specifications are:

o Maximum power: 40 W/in².
o Maximum storage/operating temperature: 200 ºC [392 ºF] (UL), 250 ºC [482 ºF] (non-UL).
o Optional PSA (pressure sensitive adhesive) is available. (Maximum temperature with PSA is 177 ºC [350 ºF].
