Seco Extends Point of Use Offerings with Cost-Saving SecoPoint Single Insert Dispenser



Chicago, Ill., Sept. 6, 2006 - Seco Tools Inc. announces the availability of its patented SecoPoint Single Insert Dispenser (SID), the latest innovation in its Point of Use value-added technology. Each SID stores up to 20 inserts, dispensing one at a time. The SID is designed specifically to work in conjunction with Seco's SmartDrawer cabinet, which can accommodate 64 SIDs per drawer, providing a capacity of up to 1280 inserts per drawer. The SID supports the most popular tool sizes and is ideal for most carbide inserts used in milling, turning, threading and grooving applications. It is also highly effective in tracking high-value CBN insert usage.

As part of Seco's Point of Use program, each time an insert is dispensed by the SID the SmartDrawer unit reports usage back to a the Seco SupplyPort central data center web portal, where transactions are processed to provide a 100% audit trail. Each transaction includes the date and time dispensed, employee number, product, quantity dispensed, and customer defined information such as work cell, job number or serial number. All of the Seco Point of Use devices communicate with SupplyPort, analyzing inventory and consumption patterns on a daily basis and automatically adjusting the minimum and maximum inventory levels to help companies accomplish their business objectives.
