Innovative EPOX-E-PAK to Be Displayed

Endeavor Technologies, Inc., an Illinois based company specializing in rebuilding spindle motors and servomotors, will be exhibiting their Epox-E-Pak insulation process at IMTS 2006.

Epox-E-Pak is an innovative method that dramatically increases the life of motorized spindles by molding the windings in a 2 part thermal set epoxy resin. While a few manufacturers offer something similar in mass produced built-in motors, ETI is able to make the same benefits economical in low volume as an aftermarket upgrade for motors made by Mitsubishi, Fanuc, Okuma, Indramat and others. The primary benefits are:

1. Sealing from contamination.
Cutting fluid contamination breaks down electrical insulation of motor windings causing premature failure. The Epox-E-Pak process isolates the windings from contamination so that submersion is possible without damage.
2. Improved thermal conductivity. Insulation life is extended because heat is transferred from the winding to the water jacket much more quickly by the epoxy (5 x 10-4 cal/(s.cm².°C/cm) than by air (8 x 10-5 cal/(s.cm².°C/cm) in a traditional motor winding.
3. Resistance to mechanical shock. Integral or built-in motors are particularly vulnerable to physical damage since they are exposed during shipping, and often require replacement in the field. Accidents happen, but with Epox-E-Pak a winding can withstand a severe impact to the winding head with no fear of damage.

Located in McCormick East at booth number D-4687, Endeavor Technologies, Inc. will be offering free instruction on field testing and identifying electrical (winding) failures in AC electric motors. This will include the use of a megger and a milliohm meter, and explanation of basic winding connection schemes.

Endeavor Technologies, Inc. was founded in 2003 and has quickly become recognized in the United States as a supplier of rebuilt / exchange spindle and axis motors for Mazak and other CNC machines.
