Annandale, N.J. - September 22, 2006 - Building off innovative features in the originals, Ingersoll Rand introduces the redesigned 107XPA and 109XPA air ratchets. Among other improvements, the new ratchets provide increased torque and better ergonomics for automotive professionals and industrial professionals.
"The updated family of 107XPA and 109XPA ratchets reflect our continual commitment to quality and innovation," said Kevin Morey, Ingersoll Rand product manager. "Utilizing dynamic engineering expertise and our own manufacturing facilities allows us to create a product that will make users more productive and the tools more durable."
The ratchets feature coil spring and ball tensioning in the ratchet head for more consistent, long-lasting head tensioning that is less susceptible to fork spreading. Many air ratchets rely on spring washers with very narrow working ranges to provide tension in the head, making them sensitive to head spreading resulting in ratchet slippage. The 107XPA and 109XPA ratchets are engineered and manufactured using state-of-the-art materials and heat treatments to provide greater durability and longer tool life.
Ingersoll Rand also improved the ergonomics on the new ratchets. The handles have been contoured for increased comfort and control and given a more contemporary styling. Operators can use the tool for extended periods of time with less fatigue. Both ratchets also feature 360-degree adjustable exhaust that provides additional flexibility by allowing the exhaust to be directed away from the operator or work piece.
The heavy-duty 107XPA ratchet has a 3/8" drive size and weighs only 2.75 pounds while delivering 54 foot-pounds of maximum torque. Users benefit from its variable speed lever-style throttle, enabling a higher degree of control. This ratchet is also offered with a 1/2" square drive, the 1077XPA
The super-duty 109XPA "club" style has a 3/8" drive size and weighs only 3.3 pounds. The large high torque motor is coupled with an optimized gearing package to provide the best balance of speed and torque. The 109XPA delivers 76 foot-pounds of maximum torque and is controlled by
a variable-speed button trigger, enabling a higher degree of control. This ratchet is also offered with a 1/2" square drive, the 1099XPA
