Informatica Helps Virgin Media Manage Customer Base Via Data Consolidation

Informatica PowerCenter 8 Advanced Edition and PowerExchange to support consolidation of customer management systems

LONDON, May 9 // -- Informatica Corporation (NASDAQ:INFA), a leading provider of data integration software, today announced that Virgin Media, the UK's largest provider of residential broadband and second-largest provider of fixed-line telephony and pay television services, will use Informatica's software to consolidate information from multiple customer management systems into a single strategic solution.

The company is using Informatica PowerCenter 8 Advanced Edition and PowerExchange to provide a consolidated view of customer data from the merger of ntl and Telewest. In addition, the Informatica platform will help Virgin Media consolidate and analyze customer and product data across the country's first 'quadplay' package -- offering broadband, digital television, home and mobile phone services to consumers.

"Our goal is to re-engineer a real-time data integration solution at the heart of our customer management," said Howard Watson, chief technology and information officer of Virgin Media. "The new solution needs to be at least twice the size to successfully accommodate data from previous ntl and Telewest systems, while ensuring future scalability. Informatica PowerCenter 8 Advanced Edition enables us to replace legacy technology and simplify operational support."

Informatica PowerCenter 8 Advanced Edition provides Virgin Media with a consolidated view of customer data, critical in ensuring customer service requests are managed seamlessly and accurately. Customer care advisors are provided with a consolidated real-time view of data that can be searched and used to automatically route them to the correct customer management database. This allows advisors to handle customer calls efficiently across multiple contact centers.

"In an extremely competitive market, today's entertainment and communication providers need to offer attractive and high-performance services which draw new customers and maintain existing ones," said John Poulter, senior vice president of EMEA sales at Informatica. "Such competition has raised the strategic importance of customer management, and with an organization as diverse as Virgin Media, the challenge to maintain a single view of customers is significant. With Informatica PowerCenter Advanced Edition, we are providing them with an enterprise data integration solution that gives the business the ability to make real-time decisions about its services."
