InduSoft's Lab Certification Tests Show InduSoft Web Studio HMI/SCADA Software is Compatible with Many Embedded Computers

InduSoft Web Studio runs on the most popular Windows CE devices

Austin, TX- March 20, 2006 - InduSoft LLC (www.indusoft.com), the market leader in Windows CE-based HMI software, has certified more than 20 hardware platforms since last year. InduSoft's lab certification tests prove that InduSoft Web Studio HMI/SCADA software runs on a wide variety of Windows CE-based hardware platforms.

Ever since hardware companies began building embedded computers, panel PCs, and handheld devices based on Windows CE, users and developers have struggled to find HMI/SCADA software that can run on the platforms. Some HMI/SCADA software cannot run in a diskless environment; some software can run on only one Windows CE platform; and some software can run, but only in a very limited version compared to the vendors' full-blown PC-based systems.

The problem is compounded by the wide choice of processors that can run Windows CE, including ARM, MIPS, Power PC, SH and S86, which are available from dozens of vendors. OEMs, machine builders, systems integrators and end users often looked in vain for a system that could run on their choice of hardware platforms. The hardware vendors supplied their own HMI/SCADA software, but it often had only limited capabilities. Users that wanted a full-blown HMI/SCADA system for an embedded Windows CE system had few choices.

InduSoft Web Studio HMI/SCADA software runs on every Windows platform, from CE to XP, in disk-based and diskless environments, and in systems ranging from redundant workstation server systems to CE-based handhelds. InduSoft built a certification lab to prove it and to offer customers peace of mind that their favorite hardware vendor can support InduSoft Web Studio. Hardware submitted for certification is tested to ensure that is can run the full range of HMI/SCADA functions, execute Visual Basic scripting, and conform to industrial standards such as Net, OPC, ADO, XML, SOAP, ActiveX. Since the lab's inception, more than 20 industrial computer hardware platforms have been certified as being able to run CEView (Indusoft's CE-based version of InduSoft Web Studio). Platforms include systems from ABB, Arista, Advantech, Beijer, Bosch-Rexroth, ESA, Pilz and Maple Systems (see complete list, attached). This testing initiative is a free service. If you are interested in having a platform certified, please send an email to info@indusoft.com requesting the Hardware Certification Submission Forms.

CEView has all the capabilities and HMI/SCADA functions of InduSoft Web Studio, but it is able to run in a diskless environment, such as in embedded computes and handheld devices. The same InduSoft Web Studio development tool that is used to configure CEView applications is used to configure large scale SCADA applications.

The number of systems passing InduSoft's certification tests is only the tip of the iceberg, according to Marcia Gadbois, VP of Business Development at Indusoft. "We have dozens of agreements to supply InduSoft Web Studio and CEView software to hardware vendors all over the world," says Gadbois. "In other cases, we know that the software works, but we have not yet run the certification tests."

InduSoft Web Studio and CEView support all the most popular industrial tools, standards and protocols, including .Net, OPC, ADO, XML, SOAP, ActiveX, FDA 21 CFR Part 11, thin clients, graphic formats, SQL and Excel. More than 200 communication drivers are available for communication with PLCs, DCSes and similar devices.
