Hitachi Power Tools Launches the DMR Line of Powerful, Cordless Impact Drivers All Backed by an Industry Leading 5-Year Warranty

NORCROSS, GA., May 5, 2005 - Hitachi Power Tools today launched its revolutionary line of cordless impact drivers, the DMR series. The series consists of 9.6-Volt (WH9DMR, WR9DMR), 12-Volt (WH12DMR, WR12DMR), 14.4-Volt (WH14DMR, WR14DMR) and 18-Volt (WH18DMR, WR18DMR) impact drivers and impact wrenches. They incorporate the most advanced technology to make every job faster and easier. And with Hitachi's industry leading 5-year warranty, they are a safe bet for the long haul.

Years ago, Hitachi pioneered a new technology that combined the torque required of automotive wrenches with the precision expected from traditional driver drills. Impact wrenches were engineered and introduced in 1984 by Hitachi that were half the size of cordless drills with triple the torque. Today, the heart of Hitachi's new DMR line of impacts is the industrial-grade, 2-piece motor with heavy gauge copper coils that makes them the most powerful and longest lasting. Using 3-D CAD and computer design simulation, Hitachi was able to create a striker/motor combination that delivers maximum power output while withstanding the high heat and stress of extreme use. Hitachi's unique Cool Flow system provides a steady stream of air to the motor, allowing the impact to run harder and longer, minimizing the risk of burnout.

The DMR line of impacts offers more power than a traditional cordless drill. Ranging from 930 in-lbs of torque (9.6V impact driver), up to 1,950 in-lbs (18V impact wrench), these tools reduce end-user fatigue as they essentially power themselves through the toughest materials with ease. Equipped with high-capacity batteries, the tools can run longer with fewer charges. The electronic feedback power control switch saves time and effort by providing equal torque and rpm in both forward and reverse. An externally accessible carbon brush and replaceable armature greatly increases tool life, limiting down time and saving money.

Compact and lightweight, the DMR impacts lead the pack providing easy maneuverability. Weighing between 3.1 lbs and 4.6 lbs depending on voltage, they are incredibly well-balanced, ideal for working in tight spaces or compromised positions such as on a ladder or under a deck. The hex drive chuck on the DMR impact drivers save time. Bits can be changed quickly and easily by simply grabbing, pulling, inserting, and releasing the chuck. Bits are secure and won't slip or fall out. The 5-position adjustable belt hook is convenient to attach the tool to a work belt for convenience while the integrated LED work light can illuminate dark workspaces such as inside a cabinet.

The new series of DMR impact drivers and wrenches reflect the aggressive new ergonomic design being implemented by Hitachi Power Tools. Hitachi is pioneering yet another new trend in the industry- tools that incorporate the latest technology with ergonomic design- a look that will modernize the traditional workshop or jobsite.

Hitachi's DMR impact series comes complete with two high-capacity batteries, charger and a carrying case. They are the ideal tools for heavy projects like tightening carriage bolts, driving lags, and sinking deck screws to performing lightweight work such as hanging doors and installing cabinets and windows.
