Immersing Itself into the Field, Underwater Kinetics Develops Breakthrough Products

Fire, Safety and Industrial just a few of the markets where UK leads with new innovations

POWAY, CA. - With a full collection of products built specifically for the industrial, fire and safety markets, Underwater Kinetics continues to rely on its team of researchers and engineers to develop a collection of products built specifically for each market it enters.

By immersing itself into a range of different markets to learn the needs of each specific market - including fire, utility, electrical and police - Underwater Kinetics has developed a range of products that are built specifically for each market and as a result the brand has seen sales spike nearly 40 percent in the past year.

Examples of the types of unique products being developed by Underwater Kinetics include:

o The 4AA eLED Zoom with Rylee Clip - Working hand in hand with firefighters, Underwater Kinetics developed this unique 4AA eLED Zoom, it's the world's first helmet-mounted flashlight designed for this market. The 4AA eLED Zoom has a focusable LED beam- Projection Optics let you zoom with a twist of the bezel from a wide beam to an intense spot and its unique eLED circuitry maintains constant brightness for 80% of alkaline battery life

o HangAir® Drying System - An offshoot of the work it has done with firefighters on the Rylee Clip, Underwater Kinetics found a need for a hanger that was strong enough to hold and dry firefighters' equipment. The HangAir Drying System is the only product in the market designed for personal evaporative drying of protective clothing, including firefighter bunker gear, arc protective clothing, and raingear.

o LitFinger(TM)/LitLink(TM) - hot stick illumination accessories. Designed for utility workers who needed a light source on their utility equipment- the LitFinger/ LitLink are innovative, extremely light (6.8 and 7 ounces with batteries) hot stick tools which provide light exactly where it is needed. Instead of fighting with truck-mounted spotlights or handheld flashlights, linemen can now instantly and easily illuminate their work area. The utility market has adopted theses products and the company expects to see significant growth in this area in 2008.

These are just a few of the many examples of how Underwater Kinetics is able to make a significant difference in the markets they emerge themselves into. How do they do it?

"Engineering expertise," said Kurt Kline, Sales Director-Industrial/Fire/Utility at Underwater Kinetics. Kline said the brand not only immerses itself into the field to identify needs and solve problems but the company is then able to transfer that research into breakthrough technology- boasting an extensive engineering department that utilizes the latest CAD software to design new products.

Another example of the company's design expertise is their line of LoadoutCases(TM) which recently received recognition. What separates these cases from anything else on the market, according to Kline, is the stronger hinges on its cases and much smoother-rolling wheels.

"All of our products are designed to withstand the elements, and still provide outstanding performance," said Kline.

The company not only builds products to withstand the elements but it also uses the elements to enhance its products. In some models, like the new UK HL 1 Headlamp, the light uses a proprietary battery warming and heat recovery system which warms the batteries to greatly enhance battery life. Other models, like the C8 eLED Plus light, features UK's proprietary 'through the lens" heat sink- which carries heat away from the LED and into the surroundings. Underwater this affect allows the lights to burn even brighter as the water acts as a coolant for the LED.

For over a quarter century Underwater Kinetics, better known as UK, has been in the business of designing and manufacturing lights, protective cases and accessories for use in harsh or difficult environments. UK protective dry cases meet rigid standards set by OEMs to protect their products in challenging environments. For more information on UK, please visit www.uwkinetics.com
