OAKDALE, Minn., Nov. 13 // -- Imation Corp (NYSE:IMN), a global leader in removable data storage, will feature a full range of its high-end data storage products designed for businesses at SC|06, the international conference on high performance computing, networking and storage, Nov. 13 to 16, 2006, at the Tampa Convention and Trade Center in Tampa, Fla. Imation DataGuard(TM) Case: The First "Terabyte-Class" Protection for Data Tapes

As data storage tape cartridges move to capacities that will soon reach a full terabyte -- and beyond -- of corporate data on a single tape cartridge, the potential impact of a lost, stolen or damaged cartridge is magnified. That's why Imation has introduced the first "terabyte-class" transport and storage case specifically designed to protect a company's high-capacity data storage tapes during transportation. Rugged and ultra durable, the Imation DataGuard Transport and Storage Case has been tested to outperform other leading storage cases, with two- to four-times the shock protection of other cases.

As the first "terabyte-class" case available for data storage tapes, the DataGuard Transport and Storage Case offers interchangeable inserts that are slotted and cushioned to provide optimal protection and can easily be reconfigured when necessary, with a simple snap-in and snap-out of the unique inserts.

DataGuard features include:

o Shock Protection - Outperforms other leading cases with two- to
four-times the G-force shock protection
o Interchangeable Inserts - Two insert configurations designed to
accommodate LTO Ultrium(TM) 1, 2, 3 and 4 cartridges; DLTtape(TM) and
Super DLTtape(TM) cartridges; IBM 3480/3490, 3590/3590E and 3592
cartridges, and Sun StorageTek T9840, T9940 and T10000 cartridges
o High Visibility - Available in a bright yellow color to reduce the risk
of misplacement, loss or theft
o Debris Reduction - Foamless construction of inserts keeps cartridges
free from dust and debris
o Stackable - Cases interlock and stack neatly to help conserve valuable
shelf or floor space
o Press and Pull Latches - Help ensure strong hold upon impact and easy
release at the push of a button
o Water-Resistant - Case is leak-resistant, protecting cartridges from
rain, moisture and accidental submersion
o Thermal Protection - Helps protect your valuable data cartridges
against fire damage

Imation Ulysses(TM) "Disk as Tape" Technology

Developed to address the needs of tape users looking for a disk-to-disk- to-tape (D2D2T) solution, Imation's Ulysses solution integrates a Serial ATA (SATA) 2.5-inch disk drive into a standard tape cartridge form factor. The Ulysses cartridge is used with the Ulysses tape drive emulator to accelerate backup and restore performance while residing in an existing tape library - restoring files up to 10 times faster than a tape-only library.

The Ulysses tape drive emulator fits in any standard tape drive bay and is recognized by the host, backup software and storage management software as a standard tape drive. Because the Ulysses tape drive emulator emulates an LTO drive and the Ulysses media has the same form factor as LTO Ultrium cartridges, users can simply "drop" the Ulysses cartridge into the existing automated tape environment with no changes to floor space, wiring, cooling or other infrastructure challenges.

Also available is the Ulysses(TM) Desktop Tape Emulator, a stand-alone version of the Ulysses solution, ideal for "test driving" the technology without modifying current tape library operations. It is also an excellent complementary solution to increase storage capacity without changing legacy architecture. Featuring a rugged metal enclosure and dual SCSI connectors to make "daisy-chaining" and termination easy, the Ulysses Desktop is stackable and scalable.

The Imation Ulysses products are available through authorized Imation distributors. For more information, go to www.imation.com/ulysses.
