Enhances Odyssey solution offerings with new internal docking station option and 250 GB capacity cartridge; Partners with Marketlink Services for distribution
OAKDALE, Minn., Sept. 17 / / -- Imation Corp. (NYSE:IMN), a worldwide leader in removable data storage, today announced product line enhancements and a marketing and sales partnership that further demonstrate the "infinite possibilities" of the Imation Odyssey(TM) removable hard disk solution. Designed specifically with the escalating data protection challenges of small businesses and home offices in mind, Imation's Odyssey solution provides users with fast backup, accurate restores and disaster recovery with minimal effort.

Internal Odyssey Docking Station Now Available
Designed to be used with next-generation cartridges, ensuring a smart investment for years to come, the Odyssey docking station is at the heart of the Odyssey system, designed to work with the higher-capacity hard disk cartridges of the future. And now the system includes the choice of either an internal or external USB docking station. Rather than compete with the CD-ROM slot, the new internal USB Odyssey docking station is compatible with all standard -- and increasingly available -- 3.5-inch floppy drive bays, freeing other bays for optical devices or additional hard drives. The internal docking station is compatible with all current and future Odyssey cartridges and offers full interchange with other Odyssey devices, including existing external docking stations.
All Odyssey docking stations include a full version of the award-winning EMC(R) Retrospect software for backup and restore that features password protection and government-certified 256-bit AES encryption.
Durable Odyssey Cartridge Capacity Extended to 250GB
Odyssey removable hard disk cartridges contain a 2.5-inch SATA hard drive and are now available in 40GB, 80GB, 120GB, 160GB capacities. A 250 GB cartridge will be available in October 2007, at a manufacturer suggested retail price (MSRP) of $279.99. And, as SATA drive capacities increase, Imation plans future cartridge expansions. Rugged and ultra-reliable, Odyssey cartridges were tested to successfully withstand a one meter drop onto a solid surface and have incorporated electrostatic discharge (ESD) to circumvent data loss caused by static build-up, which often results from cartridge handling and transport.
In addition, a unique, soft-load and eject mechanism not only allows cartridges to be loaded with one finger, but also protects against accidental ejection during data transfer.
Imation and Marketlink Team To Expand VAR and End User Markets
