Imation Expands Removable Hard Disk Portfolio to Include RDX Cartridges, Providing Enterprise-Class Data Protection to Small- and Medium-Sized Business

Imation now offers 160GB RDX media compatible with all RDX and RD1000 removable hard disk docks
OAKDALE, Minn., Jan. 15 // -- Previously, Imation Corp (NYSE:IMN), a worldwide leader in removable data storage media, announced a licensing agreement with ProStor Systems to manufacture, market and sell Imation-brand RDX technology and today announced it has expanded its removable hard disk drive (RHDD) portfolio to include Imation-brand RDX cartridges. Now available in capacities ranging from 40GB to 160GB -- the highest capacity RDX cartridge currently available -- Imation RDX cartridges offer small- and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) enterprise-class data protection and are fully read/write compatible and interchangeable with all RDX and RD1000 removable hard disk docks, including the Dell PowerVault RD1000 removable hard disk dock.

Imation RDX cartridges contain a 2.5-inch hard disk drive and, to a host computer, an RDX cartridge backs up just as a traditional tape cartridge would, yet offers all of the advantages of disk-to-disk storage, including high performance and a low-failure rate. The cartridges map to available single and dual-platter hard disk drives, and provide both forward and backward compatibility. Imation RDX cartridges may be used with any RDX and RD1000 removable hard disk docks on the market and provides a rugged and reliable solution ideal for all of a SMBs' storage requirements.
