Applied Precision Introduces Economical Personal DeltaVision and Its Next-Generation DeltaVision Core at ASCB 2006

Company Expands High-Resolution, High-Throughput DeltaVision Series to Lower- Cost Market and Hosts New Capabilities in Next-Generation System Set to Improve Live-Cell Imaging Performance

SEATTLE, Dec. 9 /- Applied Precision(R), LLC, a leading provider of imaging, measurement and analysis systems for both the semiconductor and life science industries, today announced the expansion of its restoration imaging series, DeltaVision(R), with the PersonalDV and DeltaVision Core systems. Set to enable today's high-resolution, high-throughput experimentation for research and drug discovery, the PersonalDV and the DeltaVision Core aim to address two market needs: an affordable, high-quality imaging system for fixed- and live-cell imaging and a high-powered imaging system able to extend live-cell performance and manage high-volume data generation, respectively.

Utilizing precise, high-quality imaging and high-performance capabilities from its predecessor, DeltaVision RT, the PersonalDV is a smaller, more economical system developed for individual academic research labs and biotech startups. Featuring precise optical and mechanical performance, highly quantitative and superior live-cell imaging, the PersonalDV is the first bench-top system that provides DeltaVision level performance at an affordable price.

Addressing higher-end market needs for imaging cell kinetics, DeltaVision Core is the company's next breakthrough for high-resolution, multi- dimensional, live-cell imaging. This next-generation system expands upon the existing DeltaVision platform to increase the efficiency of live-cell experiments. DeltaVision Core enables increased probes, multiple fields of view, expanded and faster data acquisition as well as increased storage and computing capacity to speed time to discovery. The DeltaVision Core is equipped to handle extensive time course experiments-over 1,000 hours of continuous imaging-and features new capabilities including multiplexed wavelengths, faster channel imaging and acquisition, large-travel stage, server class computation, and data management solutions.

"We're taking the DeltaVision platform to new heights to address both the economic and superior performance requirements of drug discovery and systems biology," said Applied Precision's senior product manager and technical fellow, Paul Goodwin. "With the PersonalDV, we're broadening our market focus to provide DeltaVision's high-quality imaging capabilities for budget- conscious and footprint-limited labs. All the while, there's an ever- increasing need for optimized live-cell imaging performance with the capacity to handle a tremendous volume of data acquisition, which fueled the development of DeltaVision Core."

"We are extremely enthusiastic to offer these new products on our proven DeltaVision platform and specifically eager to provide access to the DeltaVision technology to a wider audience via the PersonalDV," added Applied Precision's Sr. Vice President of Life Sciences, Joseph Victor.

The DeltaVision platform offers real-time restoration imaging for microscopy. Chief among its features are its high-quality images, extended live-cell viability and superior mechanical precision. In addition, the DeltaVision platform is well-supported by the company's highly-trained applications specialists who offer hardware and software execution and support. To date, there are approximately 290 systems in the field.

Further information regarding Applied Precision's new PersonalDV and DeltaVision Core will be available during ASCB 2006, December 10-13, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif. Editors interested in learning more about the company, its products and a demonstration of its PersonalDV and DeltaVision Core systems are invited to visit Applied Precision's mobile Cellular Imaging Lab #1118 located in the Exhibit Hall, or contact Ellen Van Etten by phone: +1-650-968-8900, or email: evanetten@mcapr.com.
