NKK Switches' New Illuminated Pushbuttons Promote Operator Interface and Indicate Status
SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (Nov. 25, 2002) - NKK Switches, an industry leader in illuminated switches, offers design engineers various configurations, styles, colors and options with its YB series of illuminated, short body pushbutton switches.
Boasting a maximum depth behind panel of less than one inch, the YB series is rated 3A @ 125V AC, 3A @ 250V and 3A @ 30V DC for the power model, and 0.4 VA maximum @ 28V AC/DC maximum for the logic level version. In addition, the round panel opening meets the industry standard of 16 mm. The YB series includes bushing mount and snap-in mount versions.
Providing audible and tactile feedback, the YB series promises smooth and responsive operation. The pushbuttons are available in SPDT or DPDT, and momentary or alternate action. The alternate action model features a latch-down mechanism to clearly indicate status.
Available with solder lug/QC or PC mount terminals, the YB series' tin-lead plated terminals are epoxy sealed to lock out contaminants.
The YB series is also available in a panel-sealed version, which is dust tight, oil tight and splash proof. Each panel-sealed model qualifies to IP65 of IEC529 standards and is comprised of three seals to protect the contact mechanism. The seals include thermoplastic elastometer inside the cap; a rolled sleeve of nitrile butadiene rubber covering the joining of the housing and the inner case; and an exterior rubber o-ring positioned between the built-in bezel and the panel when mounted.
NKK Switches' YB series caps are available in round, square or rectangular shapes and feature a patented interior seal for added protection to the internal mechanism. Accessory options include protective guards, splash-covers and matching indicators.
Adding to the aesthetic value, the YB series offers not only incandescent bulbs in various voltages, but an array of Bright and Superbright multi-element LED colors, intensities and combinations. Available colors include red, green and amber for all LED variations, and white, blue and green for the Superbright LEDS.
In addition to configuring full-face, spot-illuminated and bicolor versions of the switches, design engineers can specify pre-resistored LED models, in various values, to save time and money during the assembly process.
As an integral part of the switch, all YB series switches feature a combination bezel-barrier, which prevents accidental actuation as well as enhances the aesthetics of the series. Models are UL recognized and CSA certified.
