BradControl(TM) IP20 Block I/O System Now Connects to Ethernet Modbus TCP

Ideal solution for applications where in-cabinet mounting, high-density I/O count and modular design are required

April 16, 2007, Hannover, Germany and Lisle, IL USA. - Woodhead Industries, a division of Molex Incorporated (NASDAQ: MOLX AND MOLXA), announces the addition of Ethernet Modbus(TM) TCP (UDP) connectivity to its IP20 BradControl(TM) Block I/O system.

Designed for industrial in-cabinet use, the IP20 BradControl Block I/O system provides an effective way to connect industrial I/O devices to a PLC or PC controller over industrial networks, which now include Modbus TCP (UDP). The BradControl Ethernet Modbus TCP (UDP) network adapter operates as a slave device in the Ethernet control system, gathering signals and data from local field devices through the expansion modules. The BradControl Ethernet Modbus TCP (UDP) network adapter module manages all communications with the expansion modules, and supplies DC power to the attached local processors. Standard DIN rail mounting adds flexibility to the design and makes it convenient to install. The customizable legends and highly visible LED indicators provide for easy setup and operational validation during the installation and maintenance phases of an automation project.

The BradControl Block I/O system is comprised of a network adapter and up to 32 expansion modules mounted in an enclosure close to the field devices. The ribbon cable-based expansion bus, which handles inter-module communication, operates at 11 MBaud, is permitted to be 6.5 meters in length, and can accommodate a maximum of ten groups of modules. The expandable system is capable of accommodating a maximum of 512 channels of I/O in the form of discrete inputs, discrete solid state outputs, discrete relay outputs, analog inputs, and analog outputs. In addition, interface capability is available for high-speed counter inputs as well as for incremental encoders.

Woodhead Industries offers a complete line of Brad® Ethernet solutions, which include PC interfaces, switches, gateways, diagnostic tools, I/O simulation software, cordsets, connectors, receptacles, and IP67 on-machine & IP20 in-cabinet I/O modules.
