Petro-Canada Launches Next Generation Of Hydraulic Fluids With Total Wear Protection



TORONTO, ON...Petro-Canada has developed a new generation of hydraulic fluids with its Total Wear Protection* formulation that provides superior anti-wear protection and longer fluid life than conventional hydraulic oils, three times longer than a leading North American competitor.

The company has launched two new product lines based on the Total Wear Protection formulation, HYDREX* and ENVIRON*. The products provide improved performance in both plant and mobile hydraulic systems. ENVIRON is also formulated for use where there are additional environmental, health and safety concerns.

"The impact of hydraulic oils on the performance and durability of operating equipment is often taken for granted," said Jim Abram, Marketing Manager, Commercial and Industrial Products, Petro-Canada. "Our research has shown that by enhancing the performance of hydraulic fluids and enabling them to protect equipment longer, downtime is reduced, maintenance costs are lowered, productivity is improved, and profitability is increased."

Petro-Canada's Total Wear Protection hydraulic fluids start with the patented HT purity process Petro-Canada utilizes to produce crystal clear 99.9 per cent pure base oils - the purest in the world. Blended with next generation additives, they provide outstanding, stability under thermal oxidative stress for superior performance that can extend service life and reduce total wear in virtually any hydraulic system and its component parts.

"Companies are forcing their hydraulic equipment to work harder and longer than ever before and conventional hydraulic oils are just not up to the job," said Abram. Tests done in independent laboratories demonstrate Petro-Canada's superior performance. The ASTM D943 Standard Test for oxidation stability shows that HYDREX AW resists degradation over three times longer than a leading North American competitor. The Vickers 35VQ25 Hydraulic Pump Wear Test demonstrates that HYDREX AW also offers more than double the wear protection compared to the same leading North American competitor.

Both HYDREX and ENVIRON meet or exceed all current major OEM requirements for oxidation stability, shear stability and wear protection. Both products are available to the global marketplace and are backed by Petro-Canada's "No Nonsense Lubricants Warranty." Technical and after sales service support are available.

HYDREX Petro-Canada's HYDREX hydraulic fluids are available in five different formulations to meet the needs of virtually any hydraulic application. HYDREX AW (anti-wear) straight grades offer high performance protection. MV (multi-viscosity) grades offer wide-temperature performance for both indoor and outdoor applications. The XV (extra-viscosity) all-season grade offers even greater productivity regardless of the season. HYDREX is also available in FR (fire-resistant) grades and DT (detergent) grades. HYDREX multi-grades are recommended for both in-plant and mobile hydraulic systems primarily used in general manufacturing and forestry, as well as the mining, construction and fleet industries.

ENVIRON
ENVIRON is Petro-Canada's environmentally friendly line of hydraulic fluids for use in a wide variety of jurisdictions where enhanced performance, environmental liability and worker health and safety are a primary concern. ENVIRON hydraulic fluids are available in two different formulations to meet the needs of virtually any hydraulic application, including AW (anti-wear) straight grades and MV (multi-viscosity) grades.

ENVIRON hydraulic fluids are inherently biodegradable and completely free of heavy metals such as barium or zinc. The product line is non-toxic, virtually odourless and unlike vegetable oil based hydraulic oils it is 100 per cent recyclable. Like HYDREX, ENVIRON provides exceptional anti- wear protection and longer fluid life than conventional oils and over 10 times longer fluid life than vegetable-based hydraulic oils. ENVIRON MV also allows for easy start up over wide extremes in temperature.
