Plymouth, Minnesota: Zero-Max announces introduction of its ETP-Hycon(TM) hydraulic mechanical locking coupling for high torque and high rigidity applications. Designed as a better alternative to mechanical shaft locking devices, the ETP Hycon features a compact design, quick mounting, low weight and good balance. It will not damage the contact surfaces and is easy to dismantle.
Used for connecting propeller shafts in large workboats, and for paper and steel processing systems, these ETP Hycon couplings are compact and relatively light weight, yet provide high transmittable torque and torsional stiffness.
Operation is fast and easy using an accessory hydraulic pump. By using hydraulic pressure, the outer sleeve is driven up onto the inner sleeve and the conical angle locks the Hycon coupling mechanically. Dismantling is accomplished in the reverse fashion. In most applications, the Hycon can be mounted and repositioned many times without significant wear to the components.
Additional benefits include: can be mounted in tight spaces; is the same size as most mechanical shaft locking devices; requires no large set screws or high mechanical torquing requirements for mounting; and maintains uniform shaft contact pressure thereby minimizing possibility of damage to system components.
