Family Expansion - the Graphic Logic Controller

Saline, MI - June 21, 2004 - Xycom Automation, Inc., a subsidiary of Pro-face America, Inc. and a market leader in Industrial PCs, announces several new additions to the GLC and LT family of products. New units include GLC2600 and GLC2500, now with AC power input, a GLC2500 powered by 24 VDC and many new LT units, now with color screens.

The existing GLC2000 Series is growing. In addition to the existing 5.7", 7.4" and 12.1" display units with built-in control, a new 10.4" (GLC2500) display is available. Never before was a GLC2000 available in an AC powered version. Now the 10.4" display with touch screen (GLC2500) and the 12.1" display with touch screen (GLC2600) are available for 85-265 VAC power ranges.

The GLC2000 Series is a family of Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) with a built in logic controller. One software package (GP-PRO) lets you develop screens, configure IEC 61131-3 compliant ladder logic (including remote mounted I/O), enable communications over Ethernet or serial ports, and configure bar code and 2D matrix readers. An all-in-one HMI and control saves time and money by reducing hardware installation costs. The number of databases to maintain is reduced from two (separate PLC and HMI) to one (GLC2000 Series).

Also growing is the LT Series of controllers with built-in HMI. This family was first made available as a low cost GLC, but only with monochrome screens. Now, an additional 6 models are available with color screens. All of the new LT Series color units have 5.7" STN 64 color displays, touch screens and built in I/O. The LT series uses the same GP-PRO software that is used on the GLC Series, and configures in the same way.

The GLC and LT series both support the Pro-face brand of remote mounted I/O, Flex Network. This I/O architecture can support up to 1008 points up to 200m away. Available in 8, 16, 32 and 64 point, 24 VDC modules, 4 channel analog input or output, high speed counters and relay output modules are also supported. In addition to the Flex Network, the GLC2000 and LT Type-D support DeviceNet(TM) Master. Now hundreds of I/O modules are available from many different vendors.

The number of models available in the GLC and LT families has increased over 50%. "We are listening to the customer requests and added products they told us were needed," stated Xycom GLC and LT Product Manager, Scott Kortier, "The remote data collection feature of the GLC and the low cost of the LT coupled with built in PLC functionality have given the customers what they have desired for many years."
