Horizontal Machining Center allows 24/7 production.

Press Release Summary:

Model HS5000 is equipped with SEICOS 18M CNC control and 30 hp peak direct-drive spindle, which accelerates from 0-14,000 rpm in 1.4 sec. High axis acceleration rates along with 1 sec tool-to-tool time yield chip-to-chip time of 3.2 sec. Changing 19.7 in. square pallets takes 6 sec, even when loaded with max payload of 1,102 lb. Triple trough construction uses center conveyor that moves bulk of chips, with remainder removed by dual spiral chip conveyors.

Hitech Introduces the HS5000 Horizontal Machining Center

Irving, TX, July 22, 2003 - Hitech recently announced the latest in its line-up of machines - the HS5000 Horizontal Machining Center. The HS5000 is the ideal machine to form the core of a 24 hours a day, 7 days a week production system.

The HS5000 is equipped with the SEICOS 18M CNC control that delivers outstanding convenience and the same ease-of-use Hitachi Seiki users have come to expect.

The 30hp peak Direct Drive Spindle (DDS) accelerates from 0 to 14,000rpm in just 1.4 seconds. High axis acceleration rates along with one-second tool-to-tool time yield a chip-to-chip time of only 3.2 seconds. Changing the 19.7" square pallets takes only six seconds even when loaded with the maximum payload of 1,102 lbs.

This level of productivity produces a great amount of chips. With the HS5000, chips are moved more efficiently so the machine can run without stopping to clear chips from the work area. The machining center provides unequalled chip disposal with the triple trough construction using a center conveyor that moves the bulk of the chips with the remainder removed by dual spiral chip conveyors. The spiral chip conveyors, positioned at the outer edge of the machining area, extend to the setup station for added chip removal convenience.

Maintenance for the HS5000 has also been made easier. Lubricant consumption is kept extremely low by utilizing oil-free roller guides and an oil-bath ATC. The MTTR (Mean Time To Repair), an index of machine maintainability, has also been reduced, as well as machine downtime, with the enhanced accessibility of components in the machine construction.

A variety of system upgrades can be supplied with the availability of automated features such as a linear pallet pool and a 3-station turn-type automatic pallet changer.
