Hoosier Crane Service Company Keeps Employees Safe

Elkhart, Indiana - (September 28, 2009) Hoosier Crane has added Gorbel Tether Track(TM) Fall Arrest Anchor Systems to its product line. Hoosier Crane services heavy manufacturing facilities like recreational vehicle (RV) plants where workers climb to the top of coaches during assembly and routine maintenance. RV plant Safety Coordinators will appreciate the Tether Track for two reasons: It reduces the risk of injury in elevated work environments and it was designed by qualified engineers to exceed the OSHA 1926 Subpart M Construction Standard as well as ANSI Z359 Fall Protection Code.

Hoosier Crane chose the Gorbel Tether Track fall anchor arrest system because it is a reliable, cost-effective way to reduce the risk of injury in elevated work environments. Features include:

o Designed to support multiple workers, each weighing up to 310 pounds with tools (custom-engineered systems are available)

o Monorail system available for applications where a worker needs to travel in a straight line

o Bridge system available where worker's duties require movement along the X and Y axis

o Dual tracks allow workers on top of a vehicle to pass each other without disconnecting their lanyard from the rail

o The rigid rail system provides shorter free fall distances, reduced risk of secondary fall injuries (such as swinging into obstacles), longer distances between support centers, and no negative impact on second worker in the event of someone falling

o System stops the fall sooner and provides effective protection even in low headroom applications

Hoosier Crane recently sold seven Tether Track systems to Renegade / Kibbi in Bristol, Indiana. Renegade manufactures custom coaches and their workers climb to the top of coaches to inspect seals, vents and satellite dishes. The average height of the vehicles is 13 feet. Scott Smith, Safety Coordinator at Renegade, ordered the Tether Track systems after an insurance agent pointed out the risks employees were taking by working on top of the coaches without fall protection. "The systems were easy to install and they work smoothly, no hang ups," said Smith. "I've tested it myself. It's easy to move around and it's easy to get used to working with it."
