The VSS® Single Stroke® Honing System, from Sunnen Products Company, is packed with features yet value-priced. The VSS can handle diameter ranges from 0.154" (3.9 mm) to .750" (19 mm) with additional diameter ranges available ... perfect for high-production applications.
The VSS honing machine integrates a standard 7.5 kW (10hp) spindle motor, rock solid cast iron spindle carriage, thermal-resistant composite base (VSS-86 has a weldment base) and thick steel tooling plate to make it the most productive and durable machine it its class. The machine is easy to set up and operate, even by less skilled operators. All setups are done through the control panel conveniently located at the front of the machine. VSS linear slides come "lubed for life" to minimize maintenance requirements.
To ensure precise bore size, geometry and surface finish, the system uses Sunnen plated diamond Single Stroke Honing® Tools. The tools go through the bore only once, removing a predetermined amount of stock, progressively enlarging the bore. After the final pass, the bore is to size, straight and round, with the desired surface texture.
