Sunnen Introduces Value-Priced ML-2000 Honing Machine

Sunnen's value-priced ML-2000 is one of the latest models of Sunnen Products Company's most popular power stroked honing machines. You can see it in action in Booth #7200 at IMTS 2004. Sunnen's ML-2000 features much of the new technology in bore sizing and finishing in an easy-to-use, basic package and is ideal for job shop and mid-volume production applications.

The ML-2000 has twice the power and more speed than older Sunnen MBC-style honing machines. With a computer control, it is easier to set up. There is no need to change belts or pulleys as set-up is accomplished from the front of the machine. The ML-2000 also offers easy maintenance with a simplified coolant system. Zero shutoff is standard and much better than older Sunnen honing machines.

With the optional Automatic Size Control, the ML-2000 offers even better control of bore size, finish and geometry. With this feature, as soon as the bore is to size, the honing cycle automatically stops.

The ML-2000 features solid construction. A machining platform constructed of reinforced structural steel and cast iron provides a rigid machine base. Moving components are isolated from the base to eliminate vibration problems.

Sunnen's new multi-stone mandrel tools (TurboHone® series) can be operated in the ML-2000. These tools offer the advantage of multiple stones without guide shoes for maximum cutting rates and short cycle times. TurboHone® tooling is most advantageous for medium- to high-production applications.

The ML-2000 is a cost-efficient alternative to I.D. Grinding and other finishing processes. With fast stock removal rates, preliminary reaming, boring or grinding can be eliminated on many operations.
