HMC utilizes 50-taper spindle and low-friction linear guides.

Press Release Summary:

HSP550 is equipped with 30 hp, 14,000 rpm spindle which is perfectly balanced to eliminate vibration. Ceramic spindle bearings are cooled and protected by pressurized, re-circulating lubrication. X, Y, and Z axes travels are aided by roller packs that use dowel-shaped bearings. Solid construction supports heavy cuts, while low-friction design allows feed rates up to 1,890 ipm in X and Y axes, and 2,390 ipm in Z axis.

Toyoda Machinery Shows High-Speed 50-T Machining Center at IMTS 2002

Arlington Heights -- June 1, 2002 -- Toyoda's HSP550 horizontal machining center pairs the power of a 50-taper spindle with low-friction linear guides for faster cutting and positioning speeds.

The HSP550's X, Y and Z axes travels are aided by specially designed roller packs that use dowel-shaped bearings. This design provides more surface contact than traditional ball bearings, increasing rigidity and vibration dampening characteristics up to three times that of other machines. Solid construction supports heavy cuts while the low-friction design allows feed rates up to 1,890 ipm in the X and Y axes, and 2,390 ipm in the Z.

The machine is equipped with a 30 hp, 14,000 rpm spindle. The integrated spindle is perfectly balanced to eliminate vibration and provide added rigidity in the tool and spindle. Durable ceramic spindle bearings are cooled and protected by pressurized, re-circulating lubrication to ensure a long operating life. Toyoda adds high-end control features to its Fanuc CNC package to serve a wide range of production and job shop environments.

Toyoda will demonstrate the cutting capabilities of the HSP550 at IMTS 2002, booth #8018.
