Toyoda Shows New HMC for Heavy Material Removal

Arlington Heights -- August 23, 2004 -- The FH630R is a boxway machine designed for applications requiring high precision and heavy material removal. Each guideway is carefully hand-scraped to achieve stringent requirements for accuracy. The rigid boxways are paired with other design elements to enhance the speed of FH-R machines.

Topology analysis has allowed excess weight to be removed from the column. The result is faster response time without compromising rigidity.

The cast bed incorporates the three-point support model for easy installation and maintenance. It is built to support rapid axis movements while maintaining constant accuracy over a long time.

Toyoda's patented G-II slideway rests each boxway guide on a pressurized, micro-thin layer of lubricant. Dual ballscrews and dual drives in each axis contribute to high rates of acceleration, reaching 48 m/min (1,890 ipm) with acceleration of 0.5 G (4.9 m/s2).

Dual Z-axis ball screws are located on each side of the table, outside of the work area. This arrangement leaves a wide center trough under the spindle to catch chips, and frees the operator from troublesome disposal.

The FH-R Series machines are equipped with a 50-taper, 6,000 min-1 (6,000 rpm) spindle. The high-power motor and the large spindle diameter of 110 mm (4.33 in) are key to sustaining heavy cutting.

The new Fanuc 30i CNC uses the Field Bus, a network allowing control devices such as PLC, PC, and sensor actuator to be easily connected with each other.

oThe FH630R will demonstrate power cuts in steel with face milling and drilling at IMTS. The FH630R will be equipped with 6,000 rpm, #50 spindle; standard 40 ATC; and the new Fanuc 30i with Toyoda's OP Supporter.
