Nkk Switches Announces High Security 19mm Keylock Switches

Ultra-secure switches feature unique switching mechanism and self-cleaning contacts

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. (September 17, 2009) - NKK Switches, the world's leading designer and manufacturer of innovative electromechanical switches, today announced the availability of the CKL Series of high security keylock switches. These devices feature vertically rotating switching mechanisms and self-cleaning sliding contacts.

These unique features ensure that all CKL Series switches maintain a long operating life, smooth operation and guaranteed circuit contact. The interior construction includes a seal, further protecting the contact area.

The highly reliable, panel mount CKL Series with 19mm diameter bushings for standard size panel mounting rounds out NKK's extensive keylock product offerings. They are constructed of a rugged, die-cast zinc alloy with chrome plating to provide proven prevention of unauthorized or accidental actuation.

CKL Series devices are rated at 3A @ 250V AC and are available in single pole with the two position models featuring a 90 degree angle of throw and the three position model, a 45 degree angle of throw. A high dielectric strength of 1,500 volts between contacts and case is guaranteed.

Circuit options are maintained with a choice of ON-ON or ON-OFF-ON and key removal options are available in one or two positions, depending on circuit selection. ON-OFF-ON models with tubular keys have push-and-lock mechanisms, allowing the contactor to drop and slide over the stationary contacts.

These switches are available with flat or tubular keys and the flat keys are reversible for easier setting. Flat keys are supplied with 25 randomly assigned key numbers and the tubular keys have 50. However, NKK can supply switches with the same key number if this option is required for the application. One key is provided with each switch with no master available, maintaining the integrity of the switche's security. Additional keys can be ordered by specifying the key number engraved on the switch.

The CKL Series features double flatted bushings that sit securely in the panel. The switches have an operating temperature range of -25 degrees through 70 degrees Celsius and can withstand humidity of 90 to 95 percent for 96 hours at 40 degrees Celsius. The terminals are epoxy sealed to lock out flux and other contaminants.

A leading designer and producer of electromechanical switches, NKK Switches offers one of the industry's most extensive selections of illuminated, process sealed, miniature, specialty, surface mount and programmable switches. NKK manufactures more than 3.5 million toggle, rocker, pushbutton, slide, rotary, DIP rotary, keypad and keylock switches, each of which can be used as the foundation of a customized design.
