Handheld XRF Available for Positive Material Identification

Buffalo, NY – Eastern Applied Research, Inc is pleased to announce the addition of handheld x-ray fluorescence technology to the various lines of ED-XRF analyzers offered.  Oxford Instruments has selected Eastern Applied to act as a distributor of its portable XRF analyzers throughout the North East of the United States.

With over twenty years experience in sales and service of x-ray fluorescence technology, the addition of the Oxford handheld analyzer is in response to Eastern Applied clients’ interest in portability for common applications like hazardous substance detection, while allowing the sales organization to expand its application reach.  Among other material analysis interests, the handheld XRF will be a solution for positive material identification (PMI) and environmental testing.  The addition of a Handheld XRF will allow Eastern Applied to develop new client opportunities but will also be a fit with many of its current clients.

Managers of Oxford Instruments and Eastern Applied Research began discussions because the potential relationship was a fit for both organizations.  "They (Oxford) were looking for a sales company for the North East that had experience in x-ray fluorescence, which we specialize in," commented Shawn Kramer, President of Eastern Applied Research.  "We have looked at other handheld systems but none match the performance of the Oxford Instruments line.  We are especially excited about the report generation capabilities of the systems, which compare favorably too many bench top systems on the market."

The initial focus for Eastern Applied Research will be increasing awareness of the handheld systems positive material identification (PMI) capabilities in the North East.  "The Oxford handheld system offers excellent performance for PMI needs," noted Robert Moll, General Manager of Eastern Applied Research.  "Our clients have been asking for portable identification capability and it is a need across many different industries."  The Oxford X-Met 7000 will be of particular interest for organizations looking for PMI capabilities.  The system features an efficient Si-PIN detection system with a new, intuitive, user interface that allows users of any level to simply point the analyzer and pull the trigger.

In addition to the handheld XRF analyzer, Eastern Applied will also add the Oxford Instruments line of coating thickness measurement gauges to its product mix.  The handheld gauges have been developed to offer a simple and effective method of measuring plating thickness on both ferrous and non-ferrous metals.

For over twenty years, Eastern Applied Research has provided x-ray fluorescence solutions for coating thickness measurement and material analysis needs.  Information on the full range of available XRF analyzers, including the Oxford Instruments Handheld XRF, can be found at www.easternapplied.com.
